Early Life and Reign as King of Scotland

Charles II was born on May 29, 1630, in London. He became King of Scotland in 1649 after the execution of his father, Charles I. Charles II's reign in Scotland was marked by conflict with the English Parliament and the forces of Oliver Cromwell.

Restoration of the Monarchy

In 1660, Charles II was restored to the English throne after the collapse of the Commonwealth of England. He became King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and his restoration marked the end of republican rule in these countries.

Legacy

Charles II is known as the "Merry Monarch" due to his hedonistic lifestyle and love of entertainment. He is also remembered for the Great Fire of London in 1666 and the end of the Puritan Commonwealth. Charles II died on February 6, 1685, without any legitimate children.
